  • In this digitally wired life of ours, how many of us take time out to go for a regular eye check-up every 6 months? Mostly, none. The task of paying attention to our eyes has shifted to one of the last things on our list and the thought is further fleeting as the years goes by. This International Yoga Day, try these easy yoga exercise for healthy eyes –

     

    1. Start By Blinking

     

    Blink is a great way to rejuvenate tired eyes. Open your eyes completely and blink 10 times as fast as possible. Now close your eyes for the next 20 seconds. Practicing this exercise 5 times consecutively will help you with better focus and will ease stressed eye muscles. If you’re someone who uses smartphones, computers and laptops for most part of the day, this eye yoga will certainly help your eyes relax.

    2. Warm Up With Palming

     

    Long day? Simply rub your palms together until they’re slightly warm & place them on your eyelids. Be gentle, do not force the hands on the eyes. Let the eyes absorb the warmth from the palms. Now repeat this at least 3 times for a relaxed feel.

    3. Begin Slow Stretching

     

    Start by slow movements. Move your eyes from left to right side and vice versa. Practice it for one minute. Similarly, shift your eyes up and down and repeat for a minute. Now rotate your eyes slowly in clockwise direction for a minute and repeat the process anti-clockwise. Do not move your head or neck while performing these exercises. These will help to increase blood circulation in the eyes.

    4. Strengthen Eyes By Focusing

     

    Sit in a comfortable position and keep your thumb at about 10 inches from your eyes. Focus on it for 10-15 seconds. Now shift your focus on an object 10-20 feet away for the same time. Repeat this exercise for about 5 times. You can also practice zooming with your thumb by keeping it at least 3 inches away from the eyes and slowly moving it away until you can’t see it clearly. Bring the thumb back to its position slowly until you lose focus.
