  • During summer, the sun is at its peak. And, the hot weather becomes an obstacle in your daily activities like driving, travelling, etc. More than this, it poses a threat on your health, especially eyes. Because you know when you step out in the sun, its harmful UV rays affect your eyes increasing the chances of eye-related problems. So, why take a chance when there are tips that can save your eyes during summer? Here are four easy ways that can help shield your eyes from the high exposure of the sun:

    1. Protection for your eyes

Sunglasses is the first thing that comes to the mind when it comes to protecting eyes from the harsh sunrays. Sunglasses are protective eyewear, designed especially for the purpose. You can choose from a wide range of styles, designs and lenses. If you are a swimmer, there are special swimming goggles, for other sports activities; there are other special types of sunglasses including daily wear sunglasses. In these, you will find mirror coatings, UV protected coating, anti-glare coating, etc that makes them even better for summer. It is a good idea to pick oversized shades as they cover your eyes completely.

    2. Use an eye pack to beat the heat

While sunglasses are considered as the biggest saviour, they are not enough. On a regular basis, you need to indulge in beauty treatments for your skin and eyes. Use a cooling eye pack occasionally. Try this one- place two slices of cucumber on your eyes before going to bed. Leave them for some time, relax and then take them off. On the other hand, you can spray some rose water to keep your eyes cool and fresh during summer.

    3. Stay Hydrated

Drink lots and lots of water to stay away from dehydration. Always carry a bottle of water and keep sipping some throughout the day. This will help your body stay hydrated. If indoors, you can use a humidifier to keep your eyes moist and away from allergens. To soothe itching and combat dryness, use eye drops.

    4. Take a sound sleep

Your eyes work throughout the day. More than your hands, legs and other parts of the body. And, so they need rest. If you do not sleep for minimum 8 hours a day, it can be a hurdle in visual tasks like driving safely, reading accurately, cooking, etc. Because, when your eyes are tired, they become dry which compels you to rub them that increases the chances of eye infection.
