  • Cleaning your eyeglasses on a daily basis is a must. It keeps them looking new always and reduces the chances of developing scratches on the lenses. So, here are 5 right ways to clean your eyeglasses to ensure their longer life span and free from any damages. These are also applicable for sports sunglasses, power sunglasses and other eyewear.


    1. Wash your hands properly

    Even before you start cleaning your eyeglasses, make sure you wash and dry your hands thoroughly to make them free from dirt. It is best to use a lotion-free soap and a soft cotton towel for cleaning and drying up your hands.


    2. Rinse your eyeglasses using lukewarm water


    Place your spectacle glasses under a gentle stream of lukewarm water and rinse them to remove any dust or dirt particles that can cause scratches on your lenses. But don’t use hot water as it can damage lens coatings.


    3. Wash the lenses with a lotion-free soap

    Use a tiny drop of lotion-free dishwashing liquid to clean your lenses. Start by softly rubbing both sides of the lenses. Thoroughly clean every part and corner of your eyeglasses including temples and nose pads. Now rinse the lenses and frame properly ensuring there are no traces of soap.


    4. Dry your lenses carefully

    Shake your eyeglasses to remove water and then dry them using a lint-free soft cotton towel. Also, make sure the towel is clean.


    5. Re-inspection of the lenses


    Now again for the final time, inspect your eyeglasses and lenses to make sure there are no water or dust particles left. You can also use pre-moistened disposable lens cleaning wipes specially formulated for cleaning eyeglasses.
